DAY 1

Fly from your city to Havana
Airport welcome by our representatives
Transfer to the hotel
Accomodation at Inglaterra hotel, in Old Havana
Other hotel possibilities in order of preference:
a) Hotel Isla De Cuba, tel: 571130, moderate, newly-renovated old peso hotel.
b) Hostal Valencia, inexpensive, 10 rooms, beautifully restored
c) Hotel Sevilla (tel: 338560) expensive, beautifully restored in 1994, Spanish ambience.
d) Conde de Villanueva (tel 338693-4). Moderate, newly-converted, 9 rooms round a courtyard in Old Havana, cigar bar, cuban restaurant.
e) Hotel Ambos Mundos (tel: 669529), expensive. The elegant old-style hotel where Ernest Hemingway stayed. Many rooms are windoless but air-conditioned.
DAY 2
Pick up rental car in morning
Drive to Escambray Mountains
Sightseeing:
Lunch in Santa Clara,
- Homage to Che Guevara
- Mausoleo (Open Monday-Saturday)
Overnight in Topes de Collantes. Hotel possibilities
a) Kurhotel, 40321, moderate, 210 room monstrous-looking. Former tuberculosis sanitarium is gigantic outside but pleasant inside with plant-lined passages, airy rooms, and columned lobby.
b) Hanabanilla Hotel 86932, moderate, a Soviet creation in a breathtaking setting over Lake Hanabanilla, restaurant specializes in lake-caught fish, own dock, own boats, waterfalls nearby.

DAY 3
Drive to Trinidad, sightseeing in Trinidad
Hotel possibilities (in order of preference)
a) Ancon, private beach. Brisas del Ancon (tel:4199 5124) outskirts of Trindad. Peninsula de Ancon
b) Hotel Ancon Gran Caribe, (tel: 419-9-4011) expensive, ****, renovated, bikes for hire and BEAUTIFUL beach alongside
c) Hotel Costa Sur, (tel:4199 6101, ***, smaller and cheap sightseeing and spend on beach. Stay overnight in Trinidad hotel
DAY 4
Drive to Santiago de Cuba
Overnight at selected hotel:
- Hotel Casa Grande (tel 226-86600), expensive, overlooking main square, splendidly grand in golden silk
- Gran Hotel (tel: 226 20472), inexpensive, opposite Casa Grande, small but cosy.
- Hotel Rex (tel 226 26314), moderate, recently refurbished, noisy, w/ revolutionary past.
- Balcon del Caribe (convenient for airport)

DAY 5
Sightseeing in Santiago
- City tour, colonial downtown, Casa de Velaquez, music on Calle Heredia,
- Morro fortress, Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre
- Coast drive through Sierra Maestra foothills and Granma province
- Valle de la Prehistorica -- "Jurassic Park" dinosaurs

DAY 6
Drive from Santiago to Guardalavaca. Holguin
Overnight in Guardalavaca beach at selected hotel:

renovated, bikes for hire and BEAUTIFUL beach alongside
- Hotel Meliá Río de Mares, (tel: ), ***, smaller and cheaper than Guardalavaca, private beach.
- Meliá Río de Oro (tel: ) outskirts of Guardalavaca. On lovely beach.

DAY 7
Drive from Guardalavaca to Cayo Coco, Ciego de Avila.

Evening in Cayo Coco

Drive from Cayo Coco to Varadero beach
Stay in Havana through end of trip

peso hotel.
- Casa del Cientifico, tel: 338527, inexpensive, former Academy of
Science building, (avoid second floor, cold water and
shared
bathrooms) third floor has private baths.
Drop off rental car
Depart Havana back to home.
