| The diversity of Cubanacan Hotels’ offer distinguishes it from other hotel chains in Cuba as it operates not only conventional tourism but also various specialized tourism modalities, including sport hunting and fishing, currently in high demand.
Cubanacan Hotels operates these sport modalities throughout the island. Several of our hotels are located within a short distance of reservoirs, rice paddies, swamps, river mouths, unspoiled goods and plains that are hunting and fishing reserves. Two international migration flyways run over the island of Cuba: the Mississippi and the Atlantic flyway, which contribute to maintaining large amounts and a wide variety of migratory ducks all year around. Thoses species include among others: Bahama Pintel, Blue Wind, Green Wind, Spoonbill, the so-called Moorish duck (aythya affinis), and the Mexican tree duck.
In Cuba the hunting seasons lasts from October 15 through March 30 for all species suitable for hunting, and from July 20 through August 30 for the Mexican tree duck and white-crowned ringdoves, from sunrise to sunset every day of the week.
Freshwater fishing is allowed all year long in rivers, lakes and dams. The best bass catches occur during the months when the average temperature ranges from 21 to 22ºC.
Every February, Cubanacan organizes the annual International Bass Fishing Tournament, an event that already gathers many fishing enthusiasts.
